Crostinis are a great option when hosting a group of friends for dinner since they take such a short amount of time to make and you can customize them for your guests’ preferences.
This Pear, Goat Cheese and Walnut Crostini is a great vegetarian option. The ingredients have a long shelf life so you can get the grocery shopping out of the way early and put these together last minute. There is almost no cooking other than the actual baguette. If you are really pressed for time you could use this topping on crackers! We drizzled ours with a rosemary and thyme infused honey which you can find here. The herbs lend a nice earthy note to the honey and another dimension to the overall dish. You can always use regular honey or try a different variety such as orange blossom or buckwheat.
- 1/3 baguette
- 3 Tbsp olive oil
- 50 g soft mild chevre (goat’s cheese)
- 1 pear, core removed, cut in half and thinly sliced length wise (I like to use bosc but you can use what ever type you like or try a thinly sliced apple)
- ¼ cup chopped, toasted walnuts
- ½ cup Rosemary and Thyme Honey
Cut baguette into thin slices about ¼ inch thick and place on a parchment lined baking sheet.
Drizzle with oil and toast in the oven for 10-15 minutes until crisp.
Once cooled down smear a thin layer of goat’s cheese on each crostini.
Top with a slice of pear, a sprinkle of walnuts and a drizzle of honey.
